Fans of Quake II will probably like this one because a large chunk of it takes place on a military base. The new enemies are really good, and the new weapons are fun to use as well. I enjoyed the last boss being more of a shoot-him-up scenario than the showdown with Shub in Q1. Level designs are a little more clever and innovative than the first Quake.. Pretty good followup to Quake. More insane Lovecraftian levels and many new enemies to telefrag with quad damage.It's pretty much the equiavlant of Final Doom to Quake.. This is the first expansion for Quake 1: and it's excellent.If you liked Quake 1, you absolutely MUST buy this.The level design (by Levelord, who is brilliant), enemies and weapons greatly enhance the Quake formula.. While not as perfected as Quake, this is still pretty good. It takes a practical approach to mapping, as opposed to the more abstract nature of base Quake. While this causes it to suffer a bit game-play wise, various buildings look like they are meant for something. It reminded me a lot of the sort of mapping that went into the Turok series. Unfortunately, I didn't like the soundtrack, it struck me as quite generic mid-90s video game music. Not worth the effort of tracking down, and I shut it off about midway through. The new enemies seem interesting, but I didn't see much of their gimmicks before they disappeared into a shower of gibs. Two of the new weapons were useful, but the third was outclassed by the easier-to-find Thunderbolt.. Great reminder of how DLC used to be: pay money for more game. Pretty long for an expansion. Ramps up the difficulty a lot. Slightly superior map design.. Ranger's Distant screaming*. Like quake? well this game adds about 15 levels and 4 weapons. fun game, but when you try to play and the GLquake doesn't work,just go to your start up options on normal quake and type -hipnoticspelt just like that, and it works like a charm
